Yes. A new framework called HSK 3.0 expands the exam to nine levels and raises the vocabulary required at most levels. Its syllabus applies from July 2026, but regular HSK 1 to 6 test dates still use the old format until the new exam is formally launched, so check with your test center which version you will sit. If you are new to Chinese, start at HSK 1. If you already know some Chinese, tell us what you have studied when you book, and your teacher starts at the right level. Most adult beginners reach HSK 3 within 6 to 12 months of regular lessons.

With one or two lessons per week and daily review of your PDF notes, most students are ready for HSK 1 or 2 within a few months. Higher levels take longer, but progress is consistent with regular practice.

Not at all. We work from a shared document during every lesson and you receive a personalized PDF afterwards. Over time this becomes your own complete study guide. Textbooks are optional.

Absolutely. Many students combine both in the same lesson, as the vocabulary and structures overlap significantly. We shape every lesson around what you need.
